Pearl of Wisdom

When someone addressed Imam al-Baqir (AS), saying, 'I am weak in my worship, praying and fasting but a little, though I strive to eat only that which is permissible, and be sexually intimate with only those whom it is permissible', the Imam replied, 'What jihad is there better than restraint of the stomach and the private parts?!'

Rich and Poor E-mail

The word “rich” (ghani) in the Quran is mentioned 26 times. The opposite, “poor” (fakr) is mentioned 13 times, half as much. It is another miracle of the Quran that these opposite words which have a meaning relationship also represent a numerical miracle. The verse below is an example:

38- You are invited to spend in the cause of God, but some of you turn stingy. The stingy are stingy towards their own souls. God is rich while you are poor.
