Pearl of Wisdom

in reply to Safwan al-Jammal asking about one who holds this position [of Imama], said, 'One who holds this position does not play and nor is he distracted.' Musa b. Ja'far, who was then a child entered accompanied by a Makkan she-goat, to whom he was saying, 'Prostrate to your Lord!' So Abu 'Abdillah took him and hugged him and said, may my parents be your ransom, he never plays and nor is he distracted.'

Imam Ja'far ibn Muhammad al-Sadiq [as]
al-Manaqib li Ibn Shahr Ashub, v. 4, no. 317

Question : #962 Category: Miscellaneous
Subject: Gemstones
Question: I've heard tales from my grandmother about the gemstone 'sapphire' and how it had 'evil powers' of sort, and that if the stone isn't deemed favorable to a person, he/she shouldn't keep it as it would bring upon a bad omen on him/her. I want to know if such a thing about the gemstone is true, and if it is, how does one determine if the stone is good or bad for oneself? Thank you for your time!
