Pearl of Wisdom

'The Prophet (SAWA) once entered the mosque to find a large group of people gathered around a man, so he asked, 'Who is this?' to which they replied, 'A most learned scholar ('allama).' He then asked, 'And what is a most learned scholar?' to which they replied, '[He is ] the most knowledgeable of all people about Arab ancestry and events, and pre Islamic history, and Arab poetry.' So the Prophet said, 'That is knowledge which neither harms one who remains ignorant of it nor avails one who knows it.'

Question : #668 Category: Sexual Ethics & Morals
Subject: Ghusul
Question: Sallam,

My question is in regards ghusul for the state of junoob. will the ghusul be acceptable if the hair isn't washed,ie do the ghusul but have a shower cap on? Is it obligatory for a female to wash her hair during the ghusul.

Wasallsam and thank you in advance.
Answer: Alaykum Salam.

According to Sayyid Sistani, while doing Ghusl, one should wash the short hair which are taken as a part of the body.
Washing of the long hair is not obligatory. However, if one makes water reach the skin in such a way that those long hair do not become wet, the Ghusl is in order.
However, if it is not possible to make water reach the skin without washing those hair one should wash them so that water may reach the body.
