Answer:	Playing in gambling tools, such as chess, dominoes, backgammon, and betting on them is haraam; even playing chess and backgammon [and the like] without betting is haraam.

Follow Up Question:	do u mean for example me and my younger brother can't play chess in the house
Follow Up Response Question:	Salam Alaykum playing chess is haram according to Ayatollah Sistani Fatwa: Playing chess is haraam mutlaqan (absolutely or under any circumstances), even though betting is not used.
