Pearl of Wisdom

'Let the weepers weep over someone like Husayn, for verily weeping over him reduces the burden of great sins. Then he continued, saying, 'As soon as the month of Muharram would set in, my father (AS) was never seen laughing and he would be overcome by melancholy until after the first ten days had passed. When the tenth day dawned, it was a day of grief and sorrow and crying for him, and he used to say, 'This is the day when al-Husayn (AS) was martyred.'

Question : #307 Category: Hadiths / Traditions
Subject: praying 1000 rakats in hadith
Question: Hi,
I'm not a Shia so i find this quite strange, i hear that there are there these traditions that state that Imam Ali (ra) used to pray 1000 rakats of prayer every night?
If such traditions do exist, could you please give me a source.
Answer: There are many Hadeeths that Imam Ali (AS) used to pray 1000 Rak'ats. These are some references:

Bihaarul Anwar, Vol. 41, Page:132 Mustadrak Al Wasa'el, 2:481 narrated from Imam Zainul Abideen (AS) It was not Imam Ali (AS) alone but other Infallible Imams who used to pray 1000 Rak'ats, as you see in Sunni book (Al Sawa'eq al Muhriqah by Ibn Hajar) that Imam Zainul Abideen (AS) used pray 1000 Rak'at in one day and night.(Vol. 2, Page 582).
