Pearl of Wisdom

in his letter to Malik al-Ashtar: 'And if you make a covenant between yourself and your enemy or give him a surety [against life or property], then stand by your pact with loyalty and observe your liability with trustworthiness. Make yourself the shield for your word, for there is nothing from Allah's mandates that all people agree upon, Intimacy despite their diverse opinions on everything else, as much as they do with regards to respecting the fulfilment of covenants.'

Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib [as]

Question : #303 Category: Family Issues
Subject: what is the status of this child?
Question: A shia boy has had a relationship with a sunni girl, the girl has given birth and the boy has registered the child has his child. Both are not married. What is the status of the child? Is the boy obliged to marry the girl? the family of the girl have no issues with shia and sunni they just want the boy to marry the girl.
Answer: 1.If they were having a Mut'a relationship, then the child is legetimate, but the relationship was sinful, the child will be illegetimate. Such child will not be entitled to inheritence from the father.

2. It is good to marry the girl if she is not habitual of sexual sinning, atleast for the sake of the child. The Shia boy should seek forgiveness as she has to, and he should teach her how to follow Ahlul Bayt (AS).
