Pearl of Wisdom

'Whenever a tradition from the household of Muhammad peace be upon them all is transmitted to you, towards which your hearts lean and it seems familiar to you, accept it. And whatever your hearts resent and you reject, then refer it back to Allah and the Prophet and the scholar from the household of Muhammad (SAWA).'

Question : #155 Category: Salaat / Prayers
Subject: missed salahs
Question: What is the ruling on missed salahs? Can you combine them?
Answer: Bismillah

Salaam Alaikum. Inshallah this finds you well. I'm not sure what you mean by combining salahs. Let me give you a brief explanation of what our responsibility is regarding missed prayers. Any prayer that we're sure we've missed we need to make up. This means if we aren't sure how many prayers we've missed or we aren't sure of missing a particular prayer or not, we don't need to worry about making it up.
Once we've come up with the number of prayers we've missed, we need to set a side a time to make these prayers up on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis. It shouldn't be such that we are careless about our missed prayers. Also, we need to make sure that if we miss a prayer from now on, that we make it up on the same day so we don't have any more adding on what we've previously missed.
Lastly, we have got to make up every single prayer we've missed. There is no way of performing a prayer that would count as to or more prayers.
