Pearl of Wisdom

in his letter to Malik al-Ashtar when he appointed him governor of Egypt, said, '[Fear] Allah and keep Allah in view with respect to the lowest class, consisting of those who have few means: the poor, the destitute, the penniless and the disabled; because in this class are both the discontented and those who beg. Take care, for the sake of Allah, of His obligations for which He has made you responsible. Fix for them a share from the public treasury... Take care of the affairs of those of them who do not approach you because they are of unsightly appearance or those whom people regard as low. Appoint for them some trusted people who are God-fearing and humble. They should inform you of these people's conditions. Then deal with them with a sense of responsibility to Allah on the Day you will meet Him, because of all the subjects, these people are the most deserving of equitable treatment, while for others also you should fulfil their rights so as to render account to Allah.'

Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib [as]

Subject: spirtual illness enquiry
Question: I would like to ask one question related to spiritual illness.

if a person has a mental illness and because it, he can not perform his obligations easily.

is there any special dua for curing this type of illness.

Thanks
Answer: An invocation for mental disorder, it's narrated by Uthman b. Said al-Qattan narrated from Sadan b. Muslim related from Muhammad b. Ibrahim, who said: A man came to Abd Allah, peace be upon him, said: Recite this prayer when you go to bed:

In the Name of Allah, and by Allah, I believe in Allah, and disbelieve in the idols. O Allah, protect me in my sleep and my wakening. I take refuge in the Might of Allah and His Magnificence from that which I suffer and fear. The man said: I did it and was cured, by the will of Allah, the Exalted.

From him, peace be upon him, that he said: Whoever is afflicted with a mental disorder, let him seek protection on Thursday night with this healing, beneficial invocation. Then he mentioned the like of the previous hadith and said: It will not recur. Recite that at dawn after seeking forgiveness from Allah, and after completing the night prayer.
